Roslavl Khatyn
The materials of the Extraordinary State Commission cite numerous facts of atrocities of the Nazis in the Roslavl region for the period of occupation, which lasted 784 days. Among them is the tragedy of the village of Zarudnyansky. September 23, 1941 the Nazis burned the village and shot 20 men and youths in front of their near and dear ones. Behind the stingy lines of documents are the lives and fates of the people of the whole village.
The village of Zarudnyansky was formed in 1926. 12 families of neighboring villages moved here to live as a commune. The village is located on a big road leading from Roslavl to Kozelsk. On this road near the river. Our naval ancestors apparently mined iron from swamp ore. Then this ironwork was forgotten, but the name of the town Rudnya remained, and the forge worked in the 30s. Hence the name of the villages: Podrudnyansky (in front of Rudnya on the Kozelsky Bolshak) and Zarudnyansky (behind Rudnya).
In 1939 3 more families are moving to the village. On the eve of the war in Zarudnyansky there are 15 yards with a population of 80 people. 300 meters from Zarudnyansky there was a workers' settlement, where there were 3 yards, and the Rodchenkov family lived at the railway crossing.
After the launch of the Roslavl-Sukhinichi railway in 1936, many Zarudnitsy became railroad workers. But the bulk of the population was connected with land. In the 30s, the Red Plowman collective farm was created here. Peasants plowed the land, mowed hay, grew bread, celebrated weddings. Children studied at the Volkovichi seven-year school. The Zarudnians knew the forest well, all the paths and streams, all the mushroom and berry places. They lived happily and happily in their native village.
But the war began. Five Zarudnitsa went to the front. Many male railway workers received a reservation, but did not have time to evacuate and ended up in occupied territory. Fascist aircraft often bombed the railway. During one of the bombings, Sergey Fedoseyev, who was only 18 years old, died.
The Red Army retreat along the Kozelsky Bolshak forests, and after them on August 3 Nazi tanks entered the village of Zarudnyansky. In the evening of the same day, one tank was blown up near the village. There were rumors that this was done by 2 friends, Zamerin Peter and Ivan Averchenkov. At night, partisans visited the village, whom the Zarudniks supplied with clothing and food.
In the afternoon, German troops marched along the front to the front. The day of September 23, 1941 turned out to be warm and fine. Despite the anxiety that did not leave people with the advent of the Nazis, the village lived an ordinary measured life. Nothing boded ill. The Zarudnians were engaged in everyday peasant affairs. In the morning they fed the cattle, sent them for grazing cows. Jamerin Matvey went to the mill, where he was a mechanic. His son Peter left on a horse with Ivan Averchenkov. The Nikulins surrounded the sauna. Averchenkova V.A .. equipped in Volkovichi for cabbage. In the large family of the Isachenkovs a bath was heated. But most Zarudnitsa went to the gardens to dig potatoes.
Suddenly about 4 hours. days in Zarudnyansky punishers appeared on 6 cars. They cordoned off the village and began to drive all the inhabitants to the house of Polina Bogacheva. People were led from the gardens, the weak old people were taken up from the beds, and the Isachenkov girls were brought naked from the bathhouse. Men and boys were taken aside to the barn. Women, old people, children were put on the ground, surrounded by 3 machine guns, they were not allowed to cry and talk. At that time, punitive robbed the village, loaded on cars everything that they liked: household utensils, clothes, food, chickens, geese, pigs. Looted houses were set on fire.
Lead the men to the burning barn. There was a machine gun burst. Those who did not fall were pushed into the fire. Ryabchikov Sergey managed to escape, but an enemy bullet overtook him, and the lifeless body of the young man hung on the fence. Seeing smoke from the forest, the two of them horseback riding Ivan Averchenkov and Zamerin Peter. The Nazis shot them at the Fomkin’s house. A guy of about 16 from Roslavl was riding a bicycle along a big road. The Nazis did not spare him either. Kurdachenkov Vasily from the village of Komli in Zarudnyansky had a wife with a small daughter. Noticing the fire, Vasily ran to the village. The punishers stabbed him with a dagger. On the outskirts of the village, Jamerin Matvey was shot dead.
Women, old people, children saw this whole terrible picture, in a daze, waiting for their fate. But then some big boss came with a translator and said that on the railway the partisans blew up a trolley with 3 German officers and the Zarudnants were punished for communicating with the partisans. The Germans know how to punish and pardon. The surviving residents of the village were ordered to disperse.
